Title: GA-Z270 Gaming K3 first build - flashing 6 times when trying to POST
Post by: endorphin365 on July 29, 2017, 06:56:45 pm
Hello everybody,

So I'm working on my first homebuilt PC with these parts:

MOBO -- GA-Z270 K3
CPU --Intel i7 7700K
GPU -- 8 GB Gigabyte GeForce GTX,
Memory -- 2x8 GB Corsair DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
Storage -- 2TB Seagate Firecuda 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s
PSU -- Seasonic SSR-650RM
Case -- NZXT S340VR-Elite

I got everything together today and plugged in with fingers crossed. I hit the power button and red lights mobo came on with the fan, so I was excited at first, but it's not quite there. No display on my monitor, and mobo lights flash 6 times, then turned off. It keeps cycling like this, and I can't find anything about what the flashing indicates. It's not in the manual.

Any idea about this? I have not yet deconstructed, because I thought the flashing would be an error code, but as I said no luck yet in determining the meaning behind it.

If you have confirmed all of your connections, believe the PSU is good and are fairly confident no problems with the CPU or socket exist, I would look at memory next.

If its not on the QVL for the board, it might be incompatible or require manual settings.  Try boot with just one stick installed.

Hi,

I found that this motherboard is very RAM sensitive. I have this board too I have RAMs from tested and supported RAMs from Gigabyte and I still feel some strange behaviour. First of all try to reset BIOS with jumper. If you have older BIOS than F5 ( I have last stable F6 but now is not on Gigabyte site ) flash new one - dont flash F7 or F8beta ( they are unstable and cause bad restart ). Then try sigle RAM to boot. Sometimes helps reinsert CPU to socket > check pins on socket.
