Title: X58A-UD5 and Crossfire 5870 Question ..........
Post by: n00btastica on June 02, 2010, 10:19:08 am
Hi

I have a Gigabyte X58A-UD5 motherboard and a pair of Gigabyte (GV-R587D5-1GD-B) 5870s in Crossfire.

Due to the layout of the board - i.e. the distance between the PCIe slots, when the cards are both in they are just about touching - 1-2mm gap, at best.

I would like to move the the cards to slots 1 and 3 to give better air flow to each of the fans as when the second card is installed the "first" card temperature raises by ~10 degrees and the second runs ~10 degrees hotter still

Although this is fine when idle, when under load they do get toasty.

To move the cards to slots 1 and 3 requires a long (100mm) CF Bridge - which is not provided by either the motherboard or GFX cards.

I have a long standing, ongoing, thread with GTS - but it is going round in circles and basically I am being fobbed off.

Surely, after spending c£1000 on Gigabyte products, Gigabyte could send me a long CF bridge ?

Pleae can you help?

I can't help buddy, wish I could give you my long CF bridge but I am sure I will need it down the line, at least I can "BUMP" this thread for you pal.

I do know ASUS has one: part#14G030025906, 127mm long crossfire bridge.

I image however someone from GA will see this eventually though.

Have you got anywhere with your quest for a long crossfire bridge yet? I know you had another thread relating to the same subject but just wondered if you had got a satisfactory outcome.
