Title: HighPoint incompatibility key END
Post by: F5BJR on June 14, 2010, 12:23:38 am
i use a GA-X58A-UD5 but i think problem is with all GigaByte motherboards

*

after plugin a pci-e RR622 card all is normal , very fine , Raid 0, 1 , 5, 10 with my 2 * external enclosures with 4 * disks ( total 8 * disks ) with port multiplier ...

but if connect no disk to the HighPoint card exist a solution to abort bios ( if not HighPoint bios run for search disks some 30 seconds !! )

--> key  for this is 'END'

but GigaByte motherboard use also the same key ' END ' for QFlash and after key 'END' to abort HighPoint BIOS .. computer start QFlash  and
reboot

i have contacted HighPoint to modify the firmware and use a new key as 'H' or add a second option key,  but HighPoint response  is :  we use theis key a long time !!

i think that if i contact GigaByte i have alos the same response : we use this key END a long time

and we turn in round !! that is not me that is the other !!

**

i have found a solution : i have hacked the HighPoint after replace END by H but ....

all the best

Pierre

Very interesting thread  F5BJR. I haven't seen this one before but I wonder have you approached Gigabyte Technical Suport with the problem. I am sure they would be interested even if the response was "we were using it first" as you suggest. However thanks for bringing it to our attention here on the forum as it may well help others.
