On what board?
I have the UD9, which has the most massive Hybrid Silent Pipe in the known universe, and it is very low profile where the PCIe cards pass over, I presume this would be the case with other Gigabyte boards :)

D'oh forget the important bit of info :-[, it's a UD7, if I have the S\Card installed I can't see any way of using the heatpipe.
-
No, looking at my UD7 I don't think that it would be possible to install both at the same time.
-
Bit of a flawed design then I guess, I didn't see any mention about not being able to use the heatpipe while using a PCIe Soundcard in either the Mobo Manual or anywhere before I bought the mobo last Xmas. The last S\card I used was the Vortex2, always stuck to onboard after that but thought I would get back to proper sound when I rebuilt the system this time only to find I can't use the heatpipe ::)

If you are planning to liqud cool it doesn't really matter as the Northbridge has a cooling block built in. If you are using air only then you can always Cool that area with another fan/heatsink. I do understand that this isn't really the point but it gets you round the problem.

Not planning on WC at the minute and to be honest it's probably quite adequate cooling without the Heatpipe installed, it's a HAF932 case with a NH-U12P SE2 CPU Cooler but that's not really the issue, I'm just p!ssed I can't use the part which I'm presuming is covered in the high cost of the Mobo. I could have sent either the mobo or S\card back but I held off upgrading a long time for a 58A\USB3\SATA6.0 Mobo that I really couldn't be arsed in the end and used it without the pipe, it's taken me 4 months to remember to post on here about it ::)

I know what you mean. We all have these jobs we mean to get round to but time just passes by(just ask my wife!)
