Title: ga-890fxa-ud5 ecc memory
Post by: kerwin on July 11, 2010, 04:16:27 am
Can anyone tell me if the ga-890fxa-ud5 mobo supports ecc memory, and by support
I mean it actually has a section in the bios for setting scrub interval, chipkill etc. like the
790fx mobos?

Thanks.

Hi,

I can't even find any info stating that this board supports ECC memory all it says is support for DDR3. Also checking out the QVL memory list doesn't say if it's supported and the couple of numbers I checked out were both non-ECC neither does the Mobo manual. You can download these from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspx?kw=ga-890fxa-ud5.

You might want to send a PM to runn3r regarding this, as he will be able to give you a definite answer and he does work for Gigabyte.

Likewise I can't find any mention of ECC memory being supported at all.

I contacted gigabyte support (global) and finally got this answer:

>Dear Customer

>This model is capable of handing ECC, but it has to be un-buffered

So it looks like the board supports ECC memory.

Well at least that cleared it all up but I was under the impression that ECC was buffered :-\    I am sure absic will correct me though ;D
