Post by: sabrefresco on July 31, 2010, 01:57:04 pm
GB just released a new version of BIOS for the UD7 revision 1.0. Has anyone checked it out?

F7U BIOS
Description-
1. Beta BIOS
2. Enhanced USB keyboard compatibility
3. Improved audio efficiency

Edit- New BIOS for UD7 rev. 2.0 also(FB2). Description is same as F7U

I've updated to F7U. No major changes though. The energy star and EPA logo at the BIOS screen aren't present.

That makes me wonder if all the energy saving settings are still available then. Can you check that they are still there and actually work?

Nope. The D.E.S. 2 works just fine. But I didn't understand what the "Enhanced USB keyboard compatibility" and "Improved audio efficiency" are.

Have you checked to see if the C1E and C3,C5 etc are still available and working in the BIOS?

Oh, well that's good news anyway. I was just wary after you saying that the logos had been removed. There is usually a reason for that type of thing ;)

I've been having issues with the latest beta BIOS. My CPU(i7 930 Stock) overheated to 97C at 1.1% load, actually when it was idle. Speedfan showed that the CPU fan was running 3700+ RPM which is theoretically impossible on the Intel's stock cooler. I never had issues with cooling before. So I recommend staying with F6 to all UD7 owners at the moment.

Edit- I'm flashing to F6 right now

For what it's worth, I'm running F7v and haven't seen this crazy CPU temp behavior.

Well maybe that's because they have rewritten it to rectify the problem in F7U. I don't know I am only guessing so don't take it as read.

A lot of Beta update versions are not released on the Gigabyte website. That only tends to happen after they have had some field testing and are considered stable. Quite oftewn they are to be found at the TweakTown Forums http://forums.tweaktown.com/
Yes I just checked and it is on there.

So you mean Balthazor was field testing. Doesn't that mean he is a GB employee?

No, not at all. Just that he has downloaded and tried the Beta version. It just means he is a Guinea Pig. ;)
