Title: I'm kinda confused
Post by: beenie on August 10, 2010, 10:53:02 am
I have a new Gigabyte P55A-UD4P and a AntecSix Hundred case.

Question 1.
Thereare 3 USB slots at front of this case. There is a USB2.0 1, 2 cable connector going into one USB port on the mobo, and there is another cable with 2.0 USB 3 for the 3rd slot on the top front of the case. But i cannot find anywhere to plug this cable into.

Question 2.
The Aywun 750PSU has only 6 pin or 8 pin ATX connector. Neither will work, the pc seems dead. But when I swap out the PSU to one with a 4pin ATX it all works ok. Why won't it work with 6 or 8 pin?

There is obviously something I don't know about PSU's.

Firstly you wont find a USB conmnector port on the motherboard. At the moment they are only hard wired into the mothboard rear connectors.
Secondly the 6 and 8 pin connectors from the PSU sound like they are for the graphics card not the EATX 12v CPU power. If they are the correct  plugs they will be only 4 or 8 depending on the power supply and the cable colours will be just black and yellow.

I have just been checking up online regarding your power supply and this would seem to substantiate my last post regarding the connections. There doesn't even seem to be an 8pin CPU connector. See below for the specs:

Overviews
* Aywun MEGA POWER ECO Series
* Peak Power 750W
* 80PLUS Certified
* 140mm fan ultra quiet fan
* 20+4 pin connector
* 2 x 6pin PCIE connector
* 2 x 6+2pin PCIE connector
* 6 x IDE connectors
* 6 x SATA power connectors
* 1 x FDD connector
* Over Power Protection (OPP)
* 100-240V

Yup it does have a 4+4 pin EPS connector
http://www.aywun.com/ProductDetails.asp?ID=102

But its not that well known so could not be that good or its faulty.

Question 2.
The Aywun 750PSU has only 6 pin or 8 pin ATX connector.
Wait...your not putting the PCI-e connector in the motherboards 8 pin ATX connector right?
