Title: GA-G41M-ES2L - Memory Issues
Post by: Rugi on August 23, 2010, 09:57:54 pm
So I just bought a 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 stick of the PNY brand to replace my old 512's. When I took out the old sticks and plugged in the PNY the PC would not boot. It would just infinitely power itself on and then off again until I pulled the plug. Put the 512's in again and it works fine. The PNY stick says it is compatible with 667MHz, 533 MHz, and 400MHz so I doubt that is the issue as the 512's are 533MHz. Could PNY just be plain non-compatible with this board?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Quite likely. It could just be that they are double sided or something simple like that the board doesn't like. You may find a BIOS update will alllow you to use them. Check to see what BIOS you are running now and then look on the website for a newer one. If it is very  much different do the update in two stages rather than all at once. Just a bit safer that way. You don't say what revision your board is but have a look here for it.
