Title: Speed test of system
Post by: Graceman on August 28, 2010, 05:28:13 pm
Is there any freely downloadable software that will test my new build and report how it is performing
I especially would like to test the eight channels of cpu that the i7-930 should provide me.

I also suspect that not all my programs are built to use this so speed increase is not actualy that obvious so want to test the system

That's the point, having extra cores is great if the program that you are running can make use of them. The problem is that it is only the most modern programs that are compiled to use multi core processes. There will of course be more as time goes on.

There are loads of stress testing and perfomance rating programs, lots are free for home use. Just go through the threads here or google some. Check out this link for a list of tried and tested ones: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,420.0.html

I did a search but all i seemed to get was speed of processors or download speeds, perhaps I need to refine the search and use quotes.
