I need to know if it is possible to increase my Ram memory to 4gigabytes as I was succesful in placing two single sided 1 gigabyte sticks in DDRII1 and DDRII3. I have used Kingston 1gig 800Mhz PC2 6400.
If I were to use identical single sided 1 gig sticks in DDRII2 and DDRII4,would it work without any malfunction to computer.
I am an aged pensioner here in Australia and cannot afford to have major problems with the unit but I would like to increase the memory.
I will be grateful for any assistance in this matter.
God Bless...Spirit

Hi and welcome to the forum. I am sorry but no. If you check the manual it states that the maximum memory is 2Gb which seems a bit low but that is what it says. See pages 10 & 15 of the manual: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-945pl-(d)s3_3.x_e.pdf

Dark Mantis ,
Thank you for your welcome and information. I am disappointed at the result. I do have the Manual beside me everytime I make changes or add hardware. I was extremely hopeful that with new technology in Ram sticks and maybe update of BIOS I might have a chance . Page 15 of the manual states use memory modules of identical brand ,size, chips and speed. As previously stated I have successfully installed the two 1gig 800mhz sticks and it works well. Ah well to dream is to hope.
God Bless you and thanks for your time,
Spirit.

Yes I know what you mean and I didn't check lightly for you I even tried the new revisions of the board in case an updated BIOS had been released that would enable a larger max memory to be used but no dice.On page 10 it clearly states that 2Gb is the max.
