Title: gigabyte x58a-ud3r rev 2.0 new build blank screen
Post by: RDot604 on September 10, 2010, 08:31:36 am
I just put this build together. Everything turns on (fans, lights, mouse, keyboard) Just no screen. I get the orange, green, orange, green light that goes on the mobo, then it goes off. The cpu fan starts off slow, then boosts up to about 100% I think it is. SPecs are as follow:

Intel I7 930
gigabyte x58a-ud3r rev 2.0
6gb G-SKill ddr1333
XFX radeon 5850
coolermaster 750W
WD caviar black 1tb

ANy more info needed, let me know...Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum.
A couple of questions to start with.
Have you installed the graphics card in the first slot(PCIe x16)?
Is the power connections to the card both made?
What BIOS version are you running?

Alright, I fixed the problem...I forgot the pci-e cable , duhhh  ;D

Now I have a new problem. Im trying to install windows, but for some reason when I boot from cd, it takes forever to load. I tried 2 different cds, so I know its not the cd. Have no idea what would cause that...Faulty cd rom drive?

Easy done and pleased you've solved it.

The slow install time can often be caused by having the Floppy disk controller enabled in BIOS. Try turning this feature off and see if it improves things.

Okay, I think I may have solved that thanks to you.

One more issue that I need to deal with....What controller do I use for Raid 0 with ssd's on this mobo? I cant figure out which method to use

Hi there, sorry but I'm not to good on the Intel platform but one thing I do know is that you shouldn't use the Marvell Ports for RAID with SSD SATA3 devices. And I also know that you get better figures from the ICH10R controller than the Marvell 9128 chip.

Hope this helps

It helps...Thanks. Theres Jmicron, Intel, marvell. I believe those are the three that are for Raid on this mobo. So intel is the best Im assuming?

Hi
First question is are your SSDs SATA3 or SATA2?
I think absic has pretty much covered it in general but if you can just answer that for me I might be able to help a little more.

Yes in  that case your best course of action would be to install as RAID0 on the Intel ICH10R southbridge ports(SATA2).
