I had a look at the AMD Processors - Recommended Motherboards site (http://products.amd.com/en-us/recommendedmbfilter.aspx?f1=AMD+Phenom%e2%84%a2+II+X4&f2=965&f3=C3&f4=AMD&f5=890FX&f6=&f7=ATX&f8=125.000&), but for some reason Gigabyte is not recomended for my CPU. Anyone know why this is?

Generally it is because these companies only check a few items from other manufacturers. It is the same if you look at the Gigabyte QVL for memory. Only a small percentage of modules is on the list compared to all the compatible memory on sale.
Of course it could always be that they didn't pay them enough ;D

Adding motherboards to the list is a lot of checking for someone.
Even if Gigabyte sent every board its a lot of different boards and cpu's to be verified and it will be a bit one sided.
Plus what Motherboards did they recommend? The most expensive...

Your answer seems counter intuative, as surely AMD would benefit from recomending every motherboard that supports their products? Where are you getting your information from?

I think you need to tell that to AMD ;) As Peter said it all takes a lot of time and manhours to check thoroughly that two components especially as complex as motherboard and processor are completely compatible. And then theres all the different permutations.
