Hey guys
Its been a while since I last posted here. What can I say, I didn't have any problems with my GB mobo until now :)
So here is my situation, I've been using the DES app from GB for a long time, but now it doesn't work. It stays off by default and everytime I switch it on the DES window stops working and I have to end it using the task manager. DES is on of the few apps from GB which I like. I would love to see it working again. And is there a way to switch on the Phase LEDs without using DES?
Thanks

FYI I've got the GB X58A-UD7 Rev. 1.0 running F7 BIOS

Hello my friend, nice to see you back. You don't have to wait until something goes wrong you know. We are quite a friendly bunch and don't mind if you turn up with a working machine.
That was lucky that DES gave up on you. I always said don't install all those free programs. ;) If you want some bling get a few cold cathodes or some LEDs. Mind you I suppose Christmas is coming only 99 more days apparently ::) Try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it.

There can be a number of reasons why an application suddenly stops working. Most of the time a easy fix is to uninstall the application and remove any left over registry bits. If you do not have a dedicated un-installer then use safe mode and the windows built in software installer utility. Once you have completed the application removal. Reboot your PC and download the latest version and install again.
That should clear up the registry or driver conflicts that are preventing your DES from working as it should
Of course if it does not do the trick post back here and we will move on to the next phase of problem solving. :)

Hey DM, Yeah I know I don't have to wait till something goes wrong ;) I was quite busy and nothing went wrong so I couldn't visit the forums ;D I might get some cathodes, but is there a way to switch the phase LEDs on? They look cool :P
@1Day- Thanks for the idea. I tried that a couple of times. Install, uninstall, reinstall even reinstalled Windows. The thing is, it works when Windows is "fresh", but doesn't after about a month :-\

Sounds like absics's deodorant :o

Ah that is a very important bit of information. What you have told me is that there is a conflict between DES and some other application that you install later on. I wonder if you need to have a look at what all you do normally install first up while the DES works. And then try and eliminate any applications that migh cause DES to stop working.

@DM- ROFL. What? :o
@1Day- Ok I'll make a list and see what I can do

I know what you mean but I do feel they make the board look a bit like a Christmas tree. I prefer the more subtle look myself. There must be a way to switch them on because that is enabled in DES but I must admit I don't know how. Maybe if you decompile the program you can find out ;)
-
Hmm...decompile, thats sounds too easy ;D I'll go for the hard way and buy some cold cathodes ;)
-
Yes more straightforward. Not only that you can switch them on and off at will with a high tech rocker switch and you can get them in UV 8) 8) 8)

hmm..charming ;D :D

Be sure you are using the latest Version. I would uninstall the current version and install the latest to be sure, you have to uninstall the old one to update anyway
Here is where to get the latest version
