Title: ga-x58a-ud3r High pitched noise
Post by: zingster0 on September 28, 2010, 05:26:26 pm
Hello, it's my first time here :)

Now to the problem:

I have a high pitched noise emmiting from my motherboard. The sound seems to be coming from the intel 1366 socket. I have tried numerous things such as turning c1e off and updating the BIOS. The strange thing is, if I turm prime95 on or play a game (something cpu intensive) the high pitched noise stops until I turn prime/the game off.

Any suggestions would be very welcomed. Can I even fix this or will I have to return this board. (just got it)

My build:
Intel i7 930
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3-1600
Western Digital Caviar Green 500gb
ASUS ATI Radeon EAH5850
XFX XPS 750W Black Edition
NZXT Lexa s Case

Hi and welcome to the forum.
This is a long standing problem that hopefully is being sorted now. By turning off the power saving features you can usually stop the noise but that is just a work around really. However Gigabyte now thinks they have a hardware fix for it. If you contact "runn3R" the Forum Admin he will arrange the RMA for you. If you want to read more about it the thread is here:
