Title: black blotches
Post by: IndianScout on June 19, 2009, 10:32:08 pm
I've noticed when I'm in game after a couple hours I start getting black flashing blotches all over the screen, this happened no matter what driver version I've tried..

the card has never been clocked or abused, I just need it to work so I can do my job

any suggestions?

Which graphics card and which game?

And all the other information: cpu, motherboard, psu, ...

Without this information it's difficult to answer your question.

Hi,
I'm not very technical,
But Check your fans and temps, get rid of any dust build up, get riva tuner installed and check the GPU temps,
Hope this helps,
As above posts request info on your O/S and Puter ;D

Seems like it is overheating, or something wrong with the solder on the card when it gets hot. My friend had a similar problem, but with red patches. His was an 8800 ultra, and was well outside of warranty. I told him about sticking it in the oven to fix it, something to do with repairing bad connections of the solder on the PCB or something and it worked. But I would get an RMA first before risking it :P

If you have another card you can borrow you could try using that and see if you get the same problem. Is your CPU overheating? You could try running a memtest, but seems highly unlikely its RAM.

prime stable, I put in an 8800gt I had laying around and it's fine.

looks like it's time for an RMA

Looks like it :( Though I hear Gigabyte are pretty good with RMAs so hopefully you shouldn't be too long without your card
