Title: Sound issues with my G31M-ES2L board realtek Win 7 64bit
Post by: carbuncle on October 18, 2010, 05:53:02 pm
Hi

I have just had a new PC built with the G31M - ES2L board and the Realtek High Def Audio.

I have a 5.1 speakers which are plugged into the sound at the back just like with my XP machine except with Windows 7 64bit edition i can only get stero out of 2 speakers, the other 2 refuse to play any sound.

Ideas?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
Have you tried setting it up as 5.1 in the audio settings of the Control Panel?

Control Panel/Realtek HD Audio Manager/Speakers/Speaker Configuration/5.1

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply

Yeah i have tried 4 speaker setup, 5.1 and even 7.1, ive tried a variety of 'fixes' from other forums but none work, i was told its because Realtek havent released proper 64 bit drivers which is causing the problem, can you confirm they haven't and do you think that could be the reason.

What revision is your motherboard? It is printed in white lettering on the bottom left hand side near the slots.
You can also find out by running CPU-Z.

Are you sure that is not revision 1.0 because there is no rev 10? No you are quite right I expect it does say rev 10. I have just run it on mine and it says rev 13 which is crap. You could always try Everest or some other reporting software. Probably just easier to open the case and look.

Thanks, I know this is a stupid question but how do i download from that page?

I click on the 2.3 Rev but nothing says download apart from the box after Specification, when i click on that and go to Windows 7 64bit the only one i can download is the 2.51 Realtek which i already have installed.

You just click on Europe or what ever area you want the download from and then it will open an options dialogue box. Just click on save and tell it where and it will download.
BTW it's never a stupid question if you don't know the answer.
