Title: AM3 support with GA-MA790FX-DS5
Post by: Lekehra on October 20, 2010, 07:24:10 am
Hi.
I have noticed that my computer is slowing down so i wanted to buy a new CPU.
When i go to the GA-MA790FX-DS5 in your homepage it says that it supports AM3.

I was wondering if the GA-MA790FX-DS5 supports the AM3 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1055T?

thx in advance :)

Hi there,

The answer is no I'm afraid. According to the CPU support list your Mobo will work with the 1075T or the 1045T but you would need to update your BIOS to F8I for those.

I'm not sure if the 1055T will be supported in the future but I have my doubts as the BIOS Chip on this board is only 4Mb and on other boards with similar BIOS chips they have no more room to incorporate newer CPU's.

Well that sucks since i cant find any places in my Country that has the 1045T..

So if i buy the AMD Phenom II X6 1075T and i am using my Mushkin DDR2 4x1024MB HP2-6400 800MHZ then i should be alright?

Yes, you should be fine but remember to update your BIOS before you install the new CPU.
