Title: Memory for my newly purchased GA 890FXA-UD7

I'm kind of partial to G.Skill but will get whatever runs stable. I have been told in this forum that AMD runs best with 1333 DDR3 memory and that really holds true for my UD5. I guess my question is really, will I be better off with 1333 or 1600 on my UD7?

I have the  GA 890FXA-UD5 board and i use 8 gigs of the following ram with  mine all runnning at 9-9-9-24 and 2t

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ
 Never crashes and plays all games from left4dead2 to crysis very good. No problems at all.

But since you already have 4 gigs of gskill if they are 2 gig sticks you might want to stay with them so u can further upgrade cheaper to 8 gigs.

Hi there,

Although you might get away with running your RAM at 1600 Mhz and everything seems happy and stable there is the possibility that the Memory Controller on the CPU can fall over unexpectedly. When I was chatting to a guy at AMD about the issues with the Memory Controllers he told me that one of the people in his own office had had this happen to him!  :o

I have 8Gb of Dominator 1600MHz RAM installed on my own rig, which I bought before I learnt of the issues on the AM3 CPU's. I have since pulled mine back to 1333MHz as I really believe it is better to be safe than sorry. If you are looking for an overall system speed increase you are actually better off downclocking the RAM and O/C'ing the CPU.

As autotech says, if you already have 2x2GB sticks of GSkill RAM that are working OK then you would probably do better getting another set of the same RAM (My 8Gb is made up of 2 different sets).

I knew I could count on the right answer from the both of you. I have a UD5 up and running right now should be in my specs. I have not purchased any memory for my UD7 yet. So based on what you have told me I will stick to the G.Skill 1333 because I really don't need a speedwagon. Just going to setup multiple monitors and see what this eyefinity is all about.
