Title: ga-g41m-combo windows 7 load
Post by: autoheart on November 02, 2010, 12:18:53 pm
New build - trying clean install of windows 7 - on one of the reboots, near the end, I just get a blank screen.  System works if I use XP, but the same thing happens if I try to upgrade to windows 7.  Using Celeron E3300, onboard video, 4gb DDR2 Ram.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
If you could list all your hardware it would be a big help. ;)

Just another, are you trying to install in AHCI or Native IDE mode?

Also do you have a Floppy Drive? Sometimes it helps to disable this feature in BIOS.

Very simple build:

MB as above
CPU as above
Crucial DDR2 RAM - 2x2mb
using onboard video
no expansion cards
no floppy drive (disabled in bios)
WD 160gb Sata HD
Lite-On DVD

I would try reseating the memory and then running Memtest 86+ on the modules one at a time for at least 10 passes each.

How can I run Memtest if the OS doesn't load?  It won't run in safe mode either....

Memtest is bootable it doesn't need an OS. ;)

Solved.  It was the video driver.  I used an old video card and connected the monitor to it instead of the onboard video and there it was.  So I downloaded the most recent driver, took out the video card and all is well.  Thanks, everyone.
