Title: GIGABYTE GA-EP45T and OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600 #OCZ3916004GK Compatible?

Hi,

I'm in the process of building a secondary computer that has USB 3.0 onboard and this motherboard and it's cousin the GIGABYTE GA-EP43T
are the two I'm seriously looking at.  My main question is if this memory, OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600 #OCZ3916004GK, is compatible with either of
these boards and what settings to use.  I did not see it listed in the qualified vendors memory list for either but that does not mean it won't work.
My other question is which motherboard to buy between the two; the EP43 is $45 cheaper and I don't plan on running Crossfire.  The only other difference I can see between the two is that the EP 45T has an onboard raid controller.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

As you quite rightly say just because a certain memory module isn't on the QVL  doesn't mean that it won't run but there again the chances are that at best you will have to do a lot of juggling of settings and at worst it just won't work. There are two QVLs don't forget the Gigabyte one and the memory manufacturer's. If it appears on either then it should be ok. The thing is why put yourself to a lot of trouble when you can specify memory that is known to work well. Personally I like the Corsair Dominators but each to their own.

With the two different boards i would say just pick the one you feel is right for you. If that's the cheaper then great! No point in paying for options that you don't intend to use.

Thanks for the response by the way.  The reason I wanted to know about that specific memory is that is what I'm using on my current
board(Asus PT6 Deluxe V2) and would like to switch due to certain circumstances regarding the malfunction of this board.

Well that's a sensible enough reason for wanting to use it. In that case I expect we can get it working with this board and even if we can't you have not wasted anything. Let us know when you get the board and we will see what can be done.
