Hello

Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. P55A-UD3 (Socket 1156)
lately music is jumping giving strange noises
Especially after loading heavy games
heavy cpu usage
All sound is not good
Any advice?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
It sounds like a latency problem to me. To test this download and run DPCLatency Checker from here:
http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
Just leave it running in the background and then check it every so ofte especially when you have problems. If it is showing any red bars tehn that is definitely your problem. Post back after checking please.

Hi Dark mantis
The DPClatency does show red bars here and there
without anything heavy running in the background
Win7 + chrome + winamp etc..
Is there a fix?
-
Hi
The problem is easilly fixed but finding the culprit can be more troublesome. Latency is caused by bad programming generally. There are various rules for how a program should access the core and if it doesn't follow these rules it can result in the core not being released for the next operation and this causes a bottleneck that backs up. The biggest headache from our perspective is that we have to find the rogue program/driver.
The best wqay to tackle this is to go to Task Manager and then in the Processes section stop all the processes that are not required for Windows to run. If you do this one at a time until you find the one that is causing the trouble. Then depending on what it is as to how you tackle the repair.
If none of that works you would need to go to Device Manager and disable all the devices not needed to run the system. Then you can enable them one at a time and again see which one causes the problem.
Have fun!

Hello
Thanks for the help Dark mantis
Your advice worked
I stopped some proccesses including chrome.exe and utorrent.exe
and now there are no yellow\red lines
audio sounds good
altough I just re-opened chrome and utorrent and still no yellow\red
it bothers me that I can't fix this problem so it wont happen again
P.s I've got a usb-modem and usb-keyboard\mouse
if that has anything to do with it
sometimes when Sounds is not right, my mouse doesn't react well also...
thanks again

That again is down to the latency slowing down the processors's response. See if there are any updates to the problem programs or patches.

Hello Dark Mantis
The problem lays at the usb net-adapter
It gives red lines..
what is the advice about that?
It has the latest driver... I moved it on all usb-ports.. still RED lines..
If this question doesn't belong here Im sorry.
Thanks
-
It maybe just a problem with the device itself or it's firmware. Exactly what make/model is it?
-
It's a TP-link TLWN321G
firmware version 0.23

From checking on their website it would appear that this driver is not WHQL digitally signed and that could be the reason why. Are you using the latest drivers for it?

Hi Jannie
Unusual to see you over here on the Dark Side ;D
But welcome nonetheless.

This is really very helful and friendly, where can I help?
DM, the version of the driver is from 06\2010
I think it's the latest, yes.
-
The only thing I can suggest then is to contact them with the information that is is causing latency and hopefully they will correct it.
THis is the link Jannie was on about: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,3204.msg24254.html#new
