Title: GA-880GA-UD3H can only boot off a usb stick that is formated with exFAT
Post by: Steves on November 19, 2010, 12:09:03 am
I am trying to use  this MB  as dual use machine   it will mostlylboot win7 off a HD and also boot ESXI off a usb stick for a lab machine.
I have this working on an older Gigabyte  MB  but this MB will only see a usb flash that is formated in EXfat FS  at the bios level  yet it works on all others file systems under win 7 I have tried  changing the usb bios setting
I was able to get the Bios to  F6 which is the latest. Have tried several different usb drives I am out of  ideas  Please help if you can
Thanks
Steve

Hi there,

I've not come across any problems when using USB Sticks but they do seem to occur for a lot of users.

Are you using a PC or MAC to format the USB Drive? USB Sticks that have been formatted on a MAC don't always work on a PC.

Have you tried formatting the USB Stick in NTFS or FAT32? I regularly install Windows OS using a USB Stick but this had to be formatted in NTFS.

What size is the USB Stick? There can sometimes be problems if you use drives over 8GB for BOOTING purposes.
