hi....i 'm an owner of 8 gb ocz3f1600LV2G AND GIGABYTE P55A-UD4. i tried to set in the bios menu the memory to work at 1600 mhz but...i didn't manage it.could you please tell me the right settings to do that?i'd like to tell me also the settings for the proccessor in the bios..i mean all the settings for the voltages etc...thanks!!!
I have a i7 870 ,p55 chipset and 4 hard disks.
2 seagate barracuda st31000528as
1 seagate momentus xt st93205620 as (hybrid)
1 st 95005620as(hybrid)
my graphic card is an ati radeon hd 4550
i'd like to tell me also which memory test do you suggest to run because i saw some....blue screens.
tell me also finally please why i don't see from hybrid disks beeter performance than common barracuda disks...do i have to do anything???thankssssssss...

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.
You don't want much do you? Maybe it would just be easier to set up an active desktop from here ;)
Well as far as your CPU settings go just leave them on auto and it should work fine.
As for the memory that will be a little more complicated. Firstly is the memory a specified kit that has been tested together at the factory?
Also is it compatible with this board and on the QVL?
What are the rated timings and voltage for the RAM?
When you say you are running your disks in Hybrid mode what exactly do you mean?
-
what do you mean when you write ''' Maybe it would just be easier to set up an active desktop from here'' ??
i don''t understand also what is QVL and if memory is compatible with it...
the specs for the memory are
1600MHz DDR3
CL 7-8-8-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
Available in 4GB optimized kits
Unbuffered
Fatal1ty Branded XTC Heatspreader
Lifetime Warranty
1.65 Volts
240 Pin DIMM
hybrid disk are new disk from seagate that combine ssd and traditional sata....

''' Maybe it would just be easier to set up an active desktop from here'' ??
Just a joke, take no notice.
i don''t understand also what is QVL and if memory is compatible with it...
The QVL is the Qualified Vendors List and is a list of products that are tested to work together harmoniously. There is one for Gigabyte motherboards that says what memory has been tested by them and approved(although by no means comprehensive) and there should be one form OCZ which will show which motherboards they have tested their memory modules with and approved.

I haven't any experience of these disks so I cannot comment on them specifically with any degree of reliablity. However I wouldn't expect it to make much difference to the overall speed unless you were running them through a controller that could make the most of it. If you have it attached to the Marvell 9128 SATA3 controller that could give you problems as well as not being as fast as it is supposed to be. The Marvell chip doesn't pass TRIM commands so the health of the drive would start to suffer.
-
i don't use the marvell controller...the sata 2 with intel rst 32 drivers.
i haven't check the qvl....if the memory is not listed...does it means that it shouldn't work??i mean that there are soooo many modules.....who can check all of them????is there a way to check if everything is ok between motherboard and memory??
the memory is tested i think with p55 chpset and i7...

can you please tell me the right settings for memory, timongs, voltages so i can run it at 1600 mhz?
i need also the settings for the cpu....especially the voltages...thanks!

Hi
The specs I have just copied off the Intel site and are as follows:
Processor Number i7-870
# of Cores 4
# of Threads 8
Clock Speed 2.93 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency 3.6 GHz
IntelĀ® Smart Cache 8 MB
Bus/Core Ratio 22
DMI 2.5 GT/s
Instruction Set 64-bit
Instruction Set Extensions SSE4.2
Embedded Options Available No
Supplemental SKU No
Lithography 45 nm
Max TDP 95 W
VID Voltage Range 0.6500V-1.4000V
Well if the memory is compatible it should run with the timings you have already given me entered manually.
CL 7-8-8-26 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
1.65 Volts
QPI/Vtt set to 1.15v - 1.2v
Set the Uncore at 2x your memory multiplier(plus 1 or 2) so if you have a 12x multiplier set the uncore to 24 - 26
-
what about the trfc??someone told me that it should be 88..is that right?
-
It sounds about right but that is all I can say.
-
i can't find how to set the uncore!! i can see uncore clock ratio (under qpi clock ratio) and it is 18x...how can i change it>??
-
There are a lot of settings that only become changeable once you have changed the main setting to Manual from Auto.
-
which exactly setting you mean?
-
What revision motherboard do you have and what BIOS version are you currently running?
-
i have rev.2 and bios f15....
-
No, it was just a thought that maybe you were running an older version of the BIOS that could have used an update or that the processor wasn't supported by the BIOS version you were using.
What PSU are you using? Make/model please.
-
my psu is a cooler master silent pro m500...
-
No I think it is just down to the memory either being faulty or incompatible. I would advise RMAing the whole kit of modules and get something that is known to work with this motherboard. The best plan would be to clear your CMOS, load Optimised BIOS default settings and start with new memory as I can't see you ever getting this to work.
-
i check each memory seperately with memtest 4.1 and the 2 modules had too many errors.these 2 modules are from the same 4 gb kit.i have 4x2 gb.
i left the 4 gb with no errors onboard.do you think that this was the reason i had these problem??i also had some bsods...i guess that the reason is the faulty memory and that i installed windows using also this memory.so i'll clear cmos first, install again windows(because i think the bad memory destroyed some files during installation...).do you suggest anything better to do???what do you mean rmaing the memory??to sell them and buy otheer kits??is it possible to continue having problems even if i change the faulty memory??
-
tell me also please...where can i see all thye memories that have been checked with my motherboard??
-
I will deal with the memory QVL list first. You can find Gigabyte's list here:
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-p55a-ud4.pdf
and most good manufacturers of memory will also have their own QVL for each motherboard.
As far as your memory that you already have you can try nad use the two good modules and see if they run ok. If they do then there is no problem and you can just replace the faulty ones. If not you will need to replace all the memory for compatible modules.
RMA stands for Returned Material Authorisation and is given by the retailer or manufacturer when you have purchased a faulty or incompatible item.
-
ok..thanks for the infos....i'll do all these you said me and i'll...post the results...thanks!!
-
you wrote me ''Set the Uncore at 2x your memory multiplier(plus 1 or 2) so if you have a 12x multiplier set the uncore to 24 - 26''
...the problem is that i cannot still find this setting...i can see that it is 18 but...how can i change it??
-
Please don't take offence but I think it is best if you return all your settings to Auto as you might get yourself in more trouble playing with things that you don't understand really. You can do this by going into the BIOS and loading Optimised BIOS Default settings and then F10 to save and exit. The problem was your faulty memory so go back to the beginning.
-
the problem is that even with the 4 gb lest,if i do what you told me,the memory works at 1066mhz and not an 1600 that it is rated.i checked it..even the voltage in auto is 1.5 volt and the memory needs 1.65 volts...i set it at 1.66 beceuse the previous value is 1.64....so i hav eto do everything manually..
the problem is that i cannot find how to set the uncore to 24 because the multiplier must be 12 if i want the memory to work at 1600 mhz.
could you please tell me what 'll happen if i leave the command rate to 1 ??
