Title: GA-H55M-S2 Dual-channel query
Post by: rascom on November 23, 2010, 08:57:58 am
I've just bought a new board to build up a new system .  I already have a 4Gb DDR3 1600 chip from another system I'm replacing and someone's given me a 2Gb DDR3 1600 chip so I'm looking to put 6Gb of memory onto the board but when they're both in together it only recognises 4Gb but both chips work fine when the other is not in.

I understand this is due to dual-channel memory being enabled but cannot find a way of turning it off until such time as I can get another 4Gb chip to add into it.

I've upgraded the BIOS to the latest F4 version to see if that was the problem but its not changed.

Anyone...?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

You haven't actually given us a lot of details to work with but what OS are you using?

Would you like to elaborate for the benefit of any other users who might find themselves in a similar situation?

Right thanks for the update anyway. What had they sent you in error?
