Title: Motherboard and Processor Compatibility help
Post by: Ghostryley on November 23, 2010, 07:57:00 pm
hello there i have a motherboard that i brought like 2 years ago model GA-M56S-S3, i have a dual core at the moment but i want to upgrade my processor to a quad core, a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz (Socket AM3)
I have looked at the chip set which is A3, now i assume that this is referring to socket AM3 and the bios version which is F4 at the moment i will upgrade it if needed, i have looked at the CPU support page for this board and in the section Socket AM3 it has my processor that i want and all is fine except when it comes to the column since bios version it says N/A does this mean that my board wont take it or if it fine.

sorry for posting here dont know if its the right place as go ogling my problem lead to no answers :(

Hi,

sorry but if the CPU support list shows N/A in the last column it means that the CPU isn't supported on the motherboard.
