Title: Gigabyte X58A-UD5 Rev.1.0 and 3X2 gb PVT36G1600LLK + 3x1 gb PVT33G1600LLK
Post by: incognito on November 28, 2010, 10:39:54 am
I was using 3X2 gb PVT36G1600LLK on my Gigabyte X58A-UD5 Rev. 1.0 mobo,I bought and installed 3x1 gb PVT33G1600LLK to the remaining ram slots but system doesn't boot,it stucks after recognizing the total ram amount. After several boot tries, the bios shows a warning to reset the bclck to 133 which is I'm using as default without any overclock, and the ram frequency to 1066 mhz with 7-7-7-20 timings. Finally the system boots and opens the windows.
So I couldn't use the ram kits with all of the slots full at 1600 mhz 8-8-8-24 timings...

Is there any recommendations to give me about the situation?

Hi and welcome the Gigabyte UK Forum.

Your main problem lies in the fact that you have not compensated for the extra loading your filling all six slots has put on the controller. Ideally you should have installed the same size modules also but that is not so important.

What is the voltage of your memory modules?

The voltage of the modules are manually set to 1.66 and the trfc setting is 88, command rate is 3.Both of the kits are working at rims 1-3-5 at their original speed 1600 mhz with 8-8-8-24 timings. But they are not functioning together at 1600 mhz.I'm using the kits at 1066 mhz and 7-7-7-20 timing settings... >:(

I would suggest setting the timings to 8-8-8-24 and up the voltage to 1.68v-1.70v and make sure that you also keep the QPI/Vtt to within 0.5v of the memory voltage. It can be closer if you find that it is more stable. You will probably need to play around with this QPI/Vtt setting until you find one that works. Usually somewhere between 1.2 and 1.45v.
Also make sure that your Uncore is set to 2x your memory multiplier(maybe +1 or +2).

I've tried everything you wrote, but unfortunately the result is same. The system can recognize the 1600 mhz frequency and the amount of ram,but when it is verifying dmi pool data,it stucks and the cursor blinks...Do you think the previous bios can help me to handle the ram with its original frequency?

By all means try the previous BIOS version but is there any reason that you think it might help?
If you do the flash don't forget to use QFlash and on the home screen disable the Keep DMI Data before continuing.

I tried the previous bios whic is F6 but nothnig changed.I can't stand the situation,I'll sell these kits and buy 2000 mhz kits. It's so strange the 3x2 gb and 3x1 gb kits works perfectly if I use them alone as 3 way channel at 1600 mhz with 8-8-8-24 timings with 1.65 V.But when I tried to use them together I couldn't use them except 1066 mhz 7-7-7-20  ???
