Title: GA965P-DS4
Post by: pit_zav on November 29, 2010, 10:38:43 am
Hi i have a GA965P-DS4 motherboard with a KVR667D2N5/1GB ram already installed and working
I want to know if it will work, if i put 4 of them.

I didn't see it listed in the QVL list thats why i am asking.
However the KVR800D2N5/1GB which i believe has the same chip with mine, is listed.

And another question is does this motherboard support a 2 TB hard disk?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte UK Forum.

The first thing we would need to know is what revision your motherboard is and what BIOS version you are presently running?

Unfortunately, I don't have them, because the pc that i am refering to is not actually mine.
And it's a bit of a problem to learn those numbers.

Is there a chance to help me without them?

If the problem is the bios version, lets suppose that i will update it.

Well it is difficult to advise you when you don't know the actual details but if you check here you should be able to find what you need once you have the board's revision.

Ok lets say its revision 1, because if revision 1  supports them, the other revisions will support them too, right?

I thought that, if 1 memory was supported (regardless that the memory was not listed in the QVL), you could tell me if 4 of them will do the job.

Not being funny but you have a slightly simplistic view of how these things work. ;)  Just because one revision works with something it doesn't necessarily follow that the later revisions will also.

Anyway this is what it quotes in the specs for rev 1.0

Supports DDR2 800/667/533 memory
Dual Channel architecture support up to 8GB by 4 DIMM slots

So on that basis if your computer is working alright now with the memory that you have adding some more (up to 8 GB) shouldn't be a problem. You probably will find however that becasue of the extra loading on the memory controller you will need tio increase the FSB voltage a little to compensate.

Thanks that was the kind of  answer i was expecting for the memory, and i will  go on and buy them now (i know that my english are not very good and giving you a hard time to read :))
But what about the 2TB hard disk support, i searched in the link you posted me and i didn't find somethink that could answer my question.
