Title: X58A UD5 Shutdown
Post by: richardd43 on December 01, 2010, 11:28:13 pm
My computer currently takes about 15 minutes to shut down.

The screens go blank and the USB ports shut down right away,  but the fans and leds stay on.

I am not 100% sure but I think the problem started when I installed the raid configurator driver.

My problem is, I see no way to uninstall the driver.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

What driver exactly are you talking about, please link us.

If you can't find the uninstall for it, you can always use system restore to restore your computer to before you installed it, if that is the problem this should fix it.

Actually my problem has gotten worse.

Restore is not really an option at this moment.

I would just like to find where Gigabyte stores the drivers from the utility disk in W7 so I can uninstall them

Maybe the best way of takling it is to do a complete format of the hard drive and a new reinstall of Windows.

That has been done a number of times, but the problem comes back as soon as I load the drivers.

I just want to find out which driver it is and see if it is something I can live without.

Am waiting to see if I get an answer from Gigabyte tech support about this.

I would love to but Gigabyte is a little slow in answering.

I am afraid GGTS isn't like the forum and you will probably find you will have to wait at least a few days to get an answer. :-\

I'm Having the exact same problem and it also started when I set up a Raid 0. Previously I had just 1 SSD that I ran my OS (Win 7) from. I later picked up a second SSD to attempt my 1st Raid set up and have some more room for games. Everything works fine except when I shut down the power LED stays on as do the fans for 15-20 minutes. Any answers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Gigabyte did reply and told me to go to Programs and Settings  and remove the offending driver.

If I could have done that I would not have written to them.

I went into the disk and looked for all the drivers that were installed.

I am not sure now (I should have written it down) but I think it was the Browser Configuration Utility

I installed it, rebooted, and went into Programs and Settings and deleted the program.

Shut the computer down and it worked perfectly

Like I said, I am not sure exactly which program/driver it was but I know it had to do with configuration

Well at least you have got it working in the end. Thanks for posting it here so others might be able to benefit.
