Title: Can a GA-H57M-USB3 with 24 pin ATX and 12 Volt 4 pin power connector work?
Post by: smmadge on December 19, 2010, 04:48:38 pm
My power supply only has a 24 pin ATX and a 12 volt 4 pin (instead of 8 pins) power connector. Can a GA-H57M-USB3 work? I'll be using a Core i3 540 with 4 GB ram and will not be using any expansion cards.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Well in theory it should work with a 4 pin connection but I'll bet it doesn't. The easiest thing is to get an adapter cable and just split the connection so you have two four pin connectors.

I hope you are intending to use a good quality PSU?

I'll try it first with the single 12V 4 pin connector since that's the original power supply built in into the case (antec fusion black 430) . Fortunately I just found out that i have another power supply (Hiper 580W sli ready psu) somewhere which should have the 8 pin 12V connector so in the end I should be fine. I still have to buy the mainboard, is it indicated how to connect the 4 pin connector?
Thanks for your quick anwer!

The connectors for the extra 12v lines are foolproof in that they only fit one way round.
