Title: GA-H55M-UD2H 4GB RAM Installed Win7 64 < 4GB Usable
Post by: ParanoidAndroid2008 on December 29, 2010, 03:25:19 pm
Good Afternoon.

My System config is

O/S : Win 7 64 Bit
Memory : CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
MoBo : Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
CPU : Intel Core i5 650

Having built and installed the operating system, when entering control panel and looking at the system it states that 4GB RAM installed but something like 3.74GB RAM usable. I was just wondering why there is some 0.26GB of RAM not available. I did not know if the additional RAM was allocated somehow to the On-Die GPU.  However this does not seem to be the case since in some cases people have added a dedicated GPU via PCIe slot and the missing RAM phenomina still exists.

Looking at various sites this seems to be seen by other people - however I cannot see any sign of an explanation or a solution.  Has anyone any updates on this ?

Regards, Paul

This is a "feature" of this chipset. If you check through the forum you will find threads discussing it and the reasons.
