Hello, the F6 driver seems to be missing for my motherboard / OS combo. It seems to be available for XP x64. Will it work for W7? Thanks
-
The best driver to use for Marvell is MSAHCI so you do not need to install one during the windows 7 install.
However, if you want to go against my suggestion, then yes use the XP x64 Pre-install driver download you mentioned from here
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3324#dl
That driver is for all OS as shown below

Many thanks for the valuable info. However, a followup question... It is my understanding that if I am going to use an AHCI drive as the boot drive then I must still F6 preload the appropriate driver... Where can I get more up to date info regarding the MSAHCI driver for W7 x64?
Best regards!
-
All the drivers you need to run AHCI are included with Windows 7. Just enable it in the BIOS as opposed to IDE mode. ;)

I just got this response from Gigabyte as well:
"Dear customer,
Win7 64bit has Marvell driver implemented, it has no pre-install dirver needs, after Win7 64bit loaded, load the console driver and Raid utility driver that's it.
Best regards,
Gigabyte technical support team."
I will try it and see!
Thanks everyone!

No problem glad to be able to help. ;)

One final and DUMB question... is the driver listed below really for Intel processors or is it for AMD processors?
I always get confused with the amd64 references...
Thanks!

The Marvell drivers are for both AMD and Intel, it doesn't matter and that is the correct driver for your system.
However, as I mentioned before, I suggest you do not install the Marvell drivers.

I would agree with Lsd in that the Marvell drivers are not the best.
