Title: X58A-UD9 - Raid NOT bootable

Have X-58A-UD9 installed with 4 units of WDC WD15EARS [ 1.5TB ] configured as Raid 5 system on the ICH10R controller.. but the Raid drive can't be configured BOOTABLE by the controller . any one can help ?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I am not persoanlly familiar with running RAID5 arrays but my first guess would be that the size of a single partition would be more than the 2 TB maximum allowed size. If I am correct your only option would be to use GPT instead but I think you require UEFI for that.

With GA-X58A-xxx you cannot boot an ARRAY > 2TO

With your disk ( 1.5TO ) you can make the first Array for boot with 2TO and a second Array with the rest or the inverse

Only a little problem : If you kill your RAID  the reconstruction is a little slow because use the 2 * Array in same time

I prefer RAID 10 with 4 * disks ( good speed some 160 Mo/s )
