Title: GA-X58-USB3 - fan headers max power draw
Post by: Aurelius on January 10, 2011, 02:26:54 pm
Hello,

I have a GA-X58-USB3, and I'd like to know the maximum power draw from the CPU_fan header and the sys_fan headers.

I want to use 2 1.6A 12V fans on the CPU, however I don't know if the CPU Fan header can take that load (3.2A). I'll be using a fan controller, but I'd like at least 1 CPU fan (1.6A) to be controlled by the motherboard so I don't accidentally lower the CPU fans with the controller, possibly damaging the CPU.

I also want to install several more inside the case (about 5-7 more), I could control most of these with the fan controller with no problems but I'd like to connect a few directly to the motherboard if possible.

Thanks.
