Title: gtx 260 SOC overheating

Hi there,

im a proud owner of a gigabyte gtx260(GV-N26SO-896I) super overclock card (great performance!!! - so good that i wanted a 2ºone to sli them but cannot found anymore...)

im having some problems with hight temps, not normal to what i used to have.(i have this card for about 1 year) - i noticed an increase of about 5º in temps....nothing has changed regarding the pc case and components..

Now
iddle : 51/52º
full :   78/79º
before:
iddle:47/48 º
full : 73/74º

is there any tutorial on how to open this specfic card so that i can clean the dust ?
at the moment i just want to check the fan, not replacing the cooler of the card.
can you point some trusted tutorial on these subject.?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

It is probably just a build up of dust as you have summised. The best way to get rid of this is with some high pressure air. If you have access to a compressor try using that to blow the card through if not try a can of compressed air from a computer supplies store.

off-topic // will a gigabyte 460 SOC + dual core e8400 @ 3.6  = ok , or will the cpu bottleneck the gpu performance?

Depends on the game and resolution. The CPU will probably bottleneck in many games, but while this means the roof FPS you can hit is lower, it should be plenty still (60+ FPS) and also provide smoother performance being a stronger GPU.

You probably even have some room to get that CPU to 4GHz also  ;)
