Title: 790XTA-UD4 and f4a bios no hotpswap
Post by: alforan on January 12, 2011, 11:43:27 am
Sorry to bother you again with this f4a bios...

But I just noticed that with f2 bios SATA AHCI hot swapping is functional (windows 7), f.e. the secure remove icon shows SATA hard discs, while with F4a there is no way to hot swap an external SATA hard disc. They are simply not shown in the remove menu.

Can someone confirm that?

Hi,
I no longer have this particular motherboard but I can confirm that the F4A BIOS does indeed lack this option.

The best advice I can offer here is that you contact GGTS and ask them if there is an update in the pipeline to correct this issue. http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/technical-support.aspx

Thanks for the answer.

I did that. They replied to use F3. F3 shows the very same behavior.

So now I must choose among: not using a 6-core, not be able to hot swap, buying a new motherboard.

Of course, buying a new motherboard seems the best solution. But all the good new motherboards have only one PS2 input and I am stuck with a kvm switch to control two computers, and so I need the motherboard to have a keyboard and a mouse ps2 input.

Great :-)
