Title: X58 UD7 and Corsair dominator GT 2000MHz memory settings
Post by: pcnw on January 29, 2011, 10:42:55 am
I just bought X58 UD7 motherboard and combined it with a 3 x 2 GB DDR3 Corsair dominator GT (C8 2000MHz) and trying to ste the  intel's Extreme profile but I cant make it work at 2000MHz.

Does anybody can help me with settings so I can see my DDR run with their default freq of 2000Mhz ?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The very nice memory that you have purchased there will really only come into it's own if you are doing a big overclock of about 4+ Ghz. I wouldn't expect to get it running at that speed on a stock system. You could probably run it at 1600 Mhz possibly even a little more.

Thanks for your reply.

Are you saying that the freq of memory is depending on the freq of CPU ? Cant just make only memory to run at 2000MHz ?

It is not as simple now as it used to be with the Front Side Bus. Now with QPI and the memory controller being onboard the CPU it is all much more tightly linked.
