Title: X58A-UD5 pci slot
Post by: Tim on February 04, 2011, 02:25:56 pm
The manual states that if one video card is used it should be in the first slot.
I am installing water cooling and the tube fits better if I use the 3rd pci slot.
Can someone tell me if this will work?

Hi Tim and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

If you mean the PCIEx16_2 then I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. You can select it in the BIOS as the Primary Display Device. It is still the full x16 bus so no problem there and anyway it wouldn't use more that an x8 slot speed anyway.

I can't see why you realy need to drop the GPU down to that slot though as I have a similar board (UD7) and there is plenty of room for the watercooling as well as the graphics card and Silent Pipe Module.

Thanks for the response Dark Mantis.
Now I can continue with setting this all up.
The reason I can't fit the card in the first slot is because I have added a Koolance quick disconnect between the CPU and Video card.

Oh I see. That makes more sense now then. You can never have too many of them when it comes to maintenance ;)
