Title: I7 930 - BCLK from 133 to 166. What else i have to do ?
Post by: Drops on February 12, 2011, 10:02:17 am
Hi guys.

I have this PC configuration:
- CPU: Intel Core i7 930 2.80 GHz
- CPU Cooler: Corsair CWCH70
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 ( rev. 2.0 ) BIOS version FB
- PSU: Corsair CMPSU-750TXEU
- VGA: MSI GeForce GT240 1GB DDR5 128-bit HDMI ( soon will be an GTX 580 )
- Memory: Corsair 6GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 XMS3 Triple Channel Kit
- SSD: OCZ 120GB SATA-II Vertex 2
- HDD: 2xF4 320 GB RAID 0
- TV Tuner: Leadtek TV2000 XP
- Optical drive: 1 x DVD-Writer Samsung SH-S223L/RSMS Retail
- Case: Thermaltake Spedo Advance
- OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Now everything in BIOS is set to AUTO / DEFAULT.
I only changed RAM Multiplier from 8 to 10 ( to work at 1333 MHz ) and now the RAM Voltage changed from 1.52 to 1.584.
I asked on CORSAIR forum and they said that is no problem.
And also I manually set the memory timings at 9 / 9 / 9 / 24 with  TR at 2 - http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7312/10999440.jpg (http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7312/10999440.jpg)
Using MemTest86+ v4.10 I tested my Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 for 7:48 hours and i've got no errors - http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7523/041220101394.jpg (http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7523/041220101394.jpg)

What I want to do:
1. Go to BIOS and change the BCLK from 133 to 166
2. Let the Turbo MODE Enabled and the CPU will work at 3486 ( x21 ) and at 3652 ( x22 )
3.  Put the RAM Multiplier to 8 and my RAM will work at 1328 MHz ( 166*8 )
4. from here i don't know what to do next ...

Please help me with all the settings that i have to do.
I want CPU to work as now - when is necessary the CPU multiplier is rising at 22 and when I do nothing decreases at 15.

CPU in REAL Temp now:
- Idle: 35 / 32 / 35 / 30
- Full Load: 58 / 56 / 57 / 52

Thank you very much for your help !

That should be simple enough, it shouldn't require much of a voltage increase, if at all...

I think this guide might help you, it is fairly well written:
