Title: 890FX-UD7 Chipset SB850 Trim support for SSD?
Post by: codester on February 19, 2011, 10:10:37 am
Hi i've read that the chipset driver for this board version 8.71 have Trim enabled for SSD, is this the case? Because i've been figuring out why my system does not pass the TRIM command to the SSD drive im using which supported the feature. I've tried reinstalling Windows 7, using chipset driver from AMD downloaded from Gigabyte site for my board. Bios settings chipset mode is AHCI also,

Anyone able to help pls, thanks

Im running Windows 7 64bit

Hi

As long as you are runnning Windows7 and don't have the controller set to RAID  mode the motherboard should pass on the TRIM commands to the SSD. I am fairly sure that this chipset supports it.

What makes you think it is not being used ?

Hi there,

my understanding of this chipset is that TRIM support is available in AHCI mode with 8.7 and later drivers.
