Greetings from Czech Republic.
I buyed a Gigabyte Q1585N Notebook. I think hardware of this NTB is good enough for playing games 2010 and older. But...
When i play games (ut2004, resident evil 5, etc...,) sometimes i experience a 1 second "video lag" (or stutter.) Mainly when NPC or Commentator speak. So i play with 60FPS and more, and when NPC start to talks, its there a big chance i become the stutter.
And when i look at DPC latency with DPC Latency Checker, i can see every 20-30 Seconds red mark (which means BAD Latency.)
I though it can be with Sound Drivers, but i tryed so much Drivers and nothing. But when i uninstall Graphic (Nvidia 335M), bad latency is gone but i cant play games. Its also annoying, it can happen at old Games like UT 2004 and so.
And one bonus Question - Its there a new BIOS, Graphic, Audio and so on way?
My Windows 7 x64
I tried:
Defragmenting HD
Drivers from Gigabyte site
Latest Drivers (Sound, Graphic,...)
RegistryCleaners, Memory optimizers
Disable Multithreading, Using only 1 Core
and so and so... i try to fix it about 3 Weeks
Every help will be usefull, Thank You!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
Have you tried an older driver. Sometimes this can help when the latest doesn't perform so well.
All you can do with the latency problem is try to find the cause. It can be hardware or software rooted. Try disabling anything that you don't need to use when playing games and see if that helps.
Make sure all the firmware and drivers are up to date.

Thank you.
Yes, i tried a lot of Drivers, mainly the drivers from Gigabite site and latest from Realtek and NVidia.
When i disabled Graphic Card, problems with stuttering was resolved, but how i said - without Graphic drivers it isnt easy to play something.
In Bios i tried disabling SATA and other Ports, without result. Also this stuttering happens mainly in action games, in driving (Burnout, NFS Shift and lots more) there isnt problem. Really, just when NPC talks in Action game.
I disabled Indexing, Windows Search, Virtual Memory, used Game Booster, used High Performance in Windows.
Also wifi disabled, uninstaled, updated. Still the same.
I used Memcheck64 and RAMs are ok. Sometimes help when i use only one core on processor, but this slowdown a modern games a lot.
Have a nice day.

Does it happen only on internet play or on single player also ?
-
It happens in multiplayer and also in singleplayer games.
-
Are you sure that it is not to do with your LAN connection producing lag/latency ?
-
Most time i have ping about 20-60ms. Tried to play on wifi and lan, same result.
Today i disabled sata, webcam, bluetooth, card reader in bios and still the same.
Tried non-official nvidia drivers, that doesnt helped too... :D
Compatibility on older windows...same
I just think about this problem, because it really happens ONLY when audio incoming, as i said. But i have tried 3 different Audio drivers, and when i disable audio in Windows, problem still remains. It maybe can be bad HD or RAM? I used some diagnostic tools, and RAM seems ok, but HDD, i dont know.
What about RAM settings? I readed, there is a chance to change their voltage and so.
Or processor maybe cant good communicate with ram? Because sometimes i got a one second freeze (or stutter) in Windows.
Notebook is great, but this small thing can be really dissapointing.
Thanks for help.
P.S. - Also, sometimes may help shuffle the RAMs in Notebook, can i do it without losing a warrancy?
-
Just moving the modules shouldn't negate your warranty as far as I can see.

Here i go again, now i have results.
I uninstaled Intel AHCI drivers and now the problem was gone for while.
I noticed now - when i download (HDD still works,) games run nice without stutters and freezes.
when i dont download (HDD works less) , stutters happens, but not so oft.
How can i make HDD to run still fine? I try to look for some software etc.
Uninstalling Intel AHCI helped a lot. Now i need my HDD to works 100%
OR5400RPM HDD can be a little slow for this NTB?
Tried this without result: http://superuser.com/questions/146696/disable-turn-off-hard-disk-after-in-windows-7

The 5400 speed of your hard drive is perfectly normal for notebooks/netbooks. In fact it used to be slower in general at 4800.
From what you say about it working smoother when it is downloading it sounds like it would benefit from the power saving settings being disabled but that is not normally a good idea on a mobile device as it will impact on battery life.

Success. Today i tried problematic games and problems are gone. Windows run smoother too.
Just uninstall Intel AHCI driver. ;D I m glad that Notebook now run perfect.
I installed newest latest AHCI driver from Intel, but problems were same. So Microsoft drivers run better for me.
-
Good news indeed. It can be confusing as to which is the best driver to use sometimes when there is more than one to choose from. :)
-
It can be interesting to find out, if someone had same problem with this driver.
-
I am sure that some people must have come across this problem before but it is not something that seems to crop up on the forum.

Hi hrubes92, I have the same problem but when I uninstall the Intel AHCI driver it reboots and then loads it again. Can you please explain how to replace it with the Microsoft driver.
Thanks in advance,
