Title: What is "Realtek 914 clock gen" - New "FF" BIOS for X58A-UD3R r2
Post by: notshy on February 23, 2011, 11:19:12 pm
Just a quick question to ask what "Realtek 914 clock gen" is? I've just seen a new BIOS release for my motherboard but got no idea what it is supposed to fix or support ? ! I'm going to apply it anyway - I'm just being inquisitive !

 ???

I noticed some issues with FF.  AHCI mode on the Intel SATA caused a no-boot situation, along with a few other settings I never had an issue with in FE.  Rolled back to FE, everything is fine.

I boot AHCI from the Intel SATA ports into both OSX and into Windows 7 and haven't had any issues with FF

Sorry to hear you've switched back

The Realtek clock generator is exactly that it generates the frequencies that the motherboard requires. Exactly what they BIOS update has altered in it is anyone's guess as they don't exactly go overboard in their descriptions of the fixes. ::)
