I just updated my motherboard from bios FB to FE, and now I have issues booting my Win7 x64 installation medium. It will not pass the initial boot screen, the non-graphical screen. I've tried clearing the CMOS, and loading optimized settings. It will boot into Windows 7 as usual, but if I try the installation medium it will not work. Of course this is no problem, until the day I actually HAVE to re-install Windows 7 which is bound to happen sooner, or later.
I've tried to go back to an older bios, but it will not allow me to do so. I just get a message telling me that the bios I'm trying to load is corrupt or wrong.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.
Obvious question first, what program did you use to flash the BIOS update ?
-
I flashed through bios, pushed DEL at boot, and then F8. I never flash through Windows, old habit.
-
Well at least that is good news.
What installation medium are you trying to use ?
When you tried clearing the CMOS did you do an extended clear ?
-
I'm using a USB stick to install Windows. However, I just flashed to FF, and now it seems like it's working. Could be an issue with FE?
-
Yes possibly. We have noticed before that some BIOSes are a bit choosy about which USB drives they work with for some reason.
-
But, should the problem persist, is there a way to flash back to FB, which has been working? The reason I flashed, was that on occasions boot stopped just after the DMI check.

Usually that can be rectified anyway by other means but should you need to go back to your original BIOS as long as you haven't updated your Backup BIOS you can always flash it over from there.
