Title: GA-x58a-ud3r: LG wh10ls30 BD Blu Ray drive producing coasters - fix
Post by: ilovegadgets on February 27, 2011, 05:01:01 pm
Folks,
as I just went through over 10 coasters trying to produce a Ridata BD-R 4x Blu Ray disk (Win7 Ultimate SP1 using IMGBURN 2.5).

I finally found the solution:
You MUST (!!!!) connect the Blu Ray Drive to one of the first 6 SATA connections (Intel).
Do NOT connect it to the JMicron(7/8) or Gibabyte (9/10) or your will only produce coasters. 100% reproducible.

Connecting it to one of the Intel ports fixed the problem and was 100% reliable. Not a single coaster since.

Hope that helps out others. This likely applied to other Blu Ray burners as well.

Ilg.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Thanks for the information.

You will quite probably find it will apply to any newer fast burner as the Intel ICH10R Southbridge ports are the fastest and most reliable on the board.

Thanks Dark Mantis. I looked all over the web and there was no hint whatsoever. And yes, the Intel ports rock. Such a pity that the others are rather problematic ... I am one the of the few users who is actually running out of SATA ports on this board, lol.

If a problem you can always get an add on card to increase the number.
