Title: P55-USB3: Blue or White SATA Ports?
Post by: pc_michael on March 03, 2011, 06:39:59 am
Hello!

I recently purchased the P55-USB3 mobo.  What are the differences between the blue and white SATA ports?  It's my understanding the blues are controlled by the P55 chip, and the whites are controlled by a Gigabyte chip?  Are there any other differences?

I'll be using two 1 GB Western Digital Caviar Black (SATA III) drives normally, not in a RAID.  One will contain Windows 7 Ultimate x64, the other will contain Debian 6 amd64.  Which of the two SATA port colors would be best for this setup?

Thanks a lot!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The fastest and most reliable ports on the motherboard are the Blue ones. I would tend to stick to these although there is nothing wrong with the others.
