Hello.
I have some questions regarding my mobo and its BIOS version.
I currently have the first BIOS version F5 for this mobo. But i was wondering if it's necessary to update the bios version since i made some hardware changes.
I've recently changed CPU, RAM and GPU.
My set up is:
Motherboard: GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
RAM: 8GB Corsair Dominator 1333mhz DDR3
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 6950 2GB DDR5
CPU: AMD Phenom II 970 Black Edition 3,5ghz x 4
So is it necessary to update to utilize the full capacity of my hardware? Since the GPU is PCI-E 2.1 and the processor is a newer AM3 socket (dont know if its relevant).
Thankful for any input.
Regards,
E

Hi there,
yes, you would probably benefit from updating your BIOS to F8M as officially, your CPU isn't supported by earlier versions.
I would recommend that you flash BIOS with the QFlash Utility as this is the safest method. You can download the latest BIOS from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3005&dl=1#
