I own a GV-R587UD-1GD with f8 bios. Upon system start up everything works great, but after a while not always! when i run a 3d application loading times take ages especially when minimizing the game and returning in. Fact is that i have to restart the computer for it to fix and then everything is back to normal. So i thought of reinstalling the drivers! And the funniest thing happened! After uninstalling the drivers during boot my monitor does not show widescreen. Monitor shows 2 large black rectangles left and right of the monitor and it has stayed like that. Before the driver uninstall it was just fine. Then i entered windows. Still no widescreen and after a minute monitor went black, while windows was still running i was still able to hear msn incoming message sound. So i placed an old 7300 Gt (where widescreen returned back during boot) i installed latest 5870 drivers and reinstalled back the card. Then boot again was without widescreen and once upon entering windows and the drivers were installed widescreen returned back just in windows. Now when i boot i have no widescreen and when i enter windows widescreen returns. It didnt used to be like this. And the worse part is that loading times thing did not fix and when it occurs i have to restart. Sorry for long post i could really use some help.
PS my system specs
Q9550
GAEP45DQ6
4gb Corsair Dominator
800W PSU TAGAN
edit:i forgot to mention when plunging the monitor to another slot its still the same

Hi
Have you tried completely uninstalling all the GPU drivers and then reinstalling them ?
What about a different driver version ?
Have you checked your system memory for faults ?
Are there any games in particular that it seems to have problems with ?

Yes, sometimes these issues are easily fixed in catalyst control center by adjusting overscan and allowing gpu scaling. Easy enough to try it and see anyway. Good luck.

Hi thanks for replies. I did fix the widescreen issue by reseting my monitor to factory settings. Dont really know what the problem was. About the other issue it happens with Bad Company 2 and Urban terror. They are the two games i play the most accually. I did try reinstalling older drivers after a complete uninstall with a Driver sweeper but still same issue. It drives me crazy...after a restart its all back to normal. I also checked my ram with memtest and its all fine

I would advise checking with the games website to see if this is a known issue or if there is a fix you can download.

After doing some reaserch it seems that there is a conflict of new firefox 4 and ATI drivers which causes the GPU to run at 100% load. I hope they fix it soon! Thanks for the help :)

Back to IE or some other browser then for now. ;)

Its known as the 99%GPU bug in the AMD Game forums.
I had this issue with drivers 10.12/11.1/11.2.
I'm using the pre release 11.4a hotfix drivers and the problem has disappered for me. ;)
