I read in forums and on Gigabyte's website that only 4GB of DDR3 ram was supported with the GA-EP35C-DS3R motherboard. I decided to do a little experiment and bought 2 4GB sticks of DDR3 ram. I installed the ram and booted up the computer. To my amazement, the computer worked perfectly. The BIOS recognized all 8GB of ram and Windows 7 booted up with no errors. I even did a memtest on the ram including prime95 and the were no errors. It's now been 3 weeks since I did the install, and there have be no issues.
I just wanted to relay me experience to any GA-EP35C-DS3R motherboard users who wants to upgrade their DDR3 ram. BTW, the ram I used was Patriot Extreme Performance Gamer 2 Series Division 2 Edition 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz.

Thanks for the heads up there, I am sure there will be some pleased users out there. Often it is because when the manual/specs were drawn up the larger sizes of modules weren't readilly available.

Does your sleep mode work? Because I did the same (upgraded to 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM) and when I try to "wake up" from sleep mode, the computer keeps powering on and off...
