Title: GA-P67A-UD4-B3 PCI-e single graphics lane problem
Post by: Hydrogoo on April 20, 2011, 10:45:22 pm
I have been through 2 of these motherboards so far and both have had the same problem.  The PCI-e x16 lane is only operating at x8 when it rightfully should be running at x16 as I'm only using one graphics card (GTX580 Twin Frozr II OC) and there are no other PCI-e devices connected to my sytem.  My question is: Is this working as expected or have I just been really unlucky and had 2 borked motherboards?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Try turning off the USB3 and ESATA in the BIOS and see if that makes any difference. Although it won't make any difference to the grap[hics card as it will never perform above x8 anyway.

Mantis, you are a godsend, you just saved me from a pointless RMA.  Its a little pants that to get the full x16 bus speed requires that I have to sacrifice USB 3.0 ports, but as I don't use them at present, then its not a massive issue yet.

Thanks for your help!

Yes I would agree but as I mentioned it doesn't really matter as the GPU can't use all of the bandwidth anyway.

You are more than welcome for the advice. ;)
