Title: GA-P67A-UD4-B3 - unable to get dual channel
Post by: 5ingh50n5 on April 27, 2011, 03:42:13 am
Hi There !

I have recently built a new system with following main components:

Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3
Intel Core i7 2600
GSkill 1333 MHz 16 GB RAM - 2 8GB Kit so which means

each 8 GB KIit includes 2X4GB sticks

So I installed all of the 4 sticks and assumed it would configure the dual channel itself but it didnt. Later, I tried installing only 2 4GB sticks from same Kit to
DDR3_1 and DDR3_3

and

DDR3_2 and DDR_4

In both cases, it did not pick up dual channel. I am using CPUZ to find out about channel.

Can anyone please suggest what I am doing wrong?

Regard
AS

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The first thing to do would be to prove that all your modules are not faulty. You will need to run the latest version of  Memtest86+ for that and please do it EXACTLY as described.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Hi,

I havent done that test yet but I took all of the RAM mobules to vendor and he tested there with his own system. They were all detected in dual channel.

I will do memtest tonight.

Cheers

I think only the latest CPU-z beta shows Dual channel, you'll need to use that or try with AIDA64 (No matter what though, if you have all four slots filled it will be dual channel anyway  ;D)
