I recently purchased a X58A UD3R motherboard. I have a SATA hard drive for the OS and another SATA drive for other data.
If i am playing on a game the game will freeze for a split second and i will hear the 2nd hard drive turn off as if the sata data cable has been pulled out. If i go to Computer i can see the drive and access it. When i click on a file or folder on the drive the drive refreshes and seems to wake up.
Does this MB have a sleep mode, energy saving mode? If so can it be changed?

Hi
I expect you have a "Green" hard drive installed and this is what they are designed to do. It can cause all sorts of problems especially when people install them as boot drives.
It could also be Windows sleep mode so make sure that it isn't set for the hard drive to go into sleep mode etc.

Ah rite - i might have seen a something on the hard drive about green. I'll check later when im home. It is a new hard drive that i used and could explain why i didn't experience the issue on my previous system.
Thanks.

Yes I expect that is the cause but if not just post back and we can look at other options.
